Project Objectives

·       Create income generating activities.

·       Build awareness of local communities on different issues related to their  livelihood.

·       Build the capacity of local communities through awareness and training so that they can take future initiatives on their own.

·       Provide limited infrastructure services vital to improving the livelihoods of targeted communities.

·       Create job opportunities and support the establishment of new businesses in the targeted communities.

Operation and Management

The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) has entrusted four local NGOs (listed below) to implement the local development projects in the 10 Poverty Pockets Areas chosen:

A.    Jordan River Foundation

B.    Nour Al-Hussein Foundation

C.    Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development

D.    Community Centers Association

 Components:

·       Income Generating projects- Create income generating activities.

·       Capacity building - Build awareness of local communities on different issues related to their  livelihoods…Build the capacity of local communities through awareness and training so that they can take future initiatives on their own.

·       Infrastructure Development- Provide limited infrastructure services vital to improving the livelihoods of targeted communities.

·       Lending scheme-  (Revolving fund) offering loans to support & establishment of new businesses in the targeted communities, and Create job opportunities

  Achievements:

•         Training for local communities and local CBOs’ members and leaders.

•         Implementation of one or more income generating activity identified by local communities.

•         Implementation of basic infrastructure services identified by local communities

•         Provision of a small scale lending facility for entrepreneurs
